Warm and humid afternoon in the Land of Rip Van Winkle. New roof being installed on the house just up the hill. The roofers have their boombox cranked all the way up. The music drifts down through the forest to where I am sitting in a lawn chair. First, it’s Johnny Cash singing “We’ll Meet Again”; next, Warren Zevon crooning “Keep Me in Your Heart.” Now it’s Nirvana’s “All Apologies.” Must be a new roof for the House of Hades too. And here I am, lounging in musical shade.
