A Tale of Urgent Care

“There, now that didn’t hurt a bit, did it? Would you like to see your blood?” She holds up a vial.

“No, that’s okay. I’ll faint.”

“Would you like a glass of water?”

“Yes.”

“Wait right here.” She steps out.

Time passes. Lots of time. I’m not going to faint, but I am getting thirsty. At last the door opens. She steps back in.

“Here you go.”

I look at the cup and shake my head no.

“They forgot to deliver our order of regular cups. But don’t worry, this one is clean. Drink up! Easy peasy!” She’s smiling.

I should have fainted when I had the chance.
